FAQs

Can I have a newborn in-home session if my house doesn’t get a lot of light?

Yes. Light is crucial to a pretty session. I like to gather near windows if possible, and that may mean moving some furniture around to get there. If your heart’s desire is shoot more in the nursery, watch the light a few days to figure out when it’s brightest and we can aim from there. Otherwise, watch the light in the master bedroom as that is always a good place for a newborn session. If you really don’t trust the light in your house, we can opt for a studio or downtown session.

Can we include our pets?

Please do! They provide wonderful antics and chaos. If your dog is nervous or overly protective though, it’s generally better to have him happily secured in another room until the session is over.

When should the newborn session take place?

If you’re feeling amazing 2 weeks after birth, we can schedule it that early. If you’re not, we have until 3-months. My style of newborn sessions work very well with older newborns so it’s no pressure to make it happen right after birth.

How do you make it work with older children?

Older siblings are wonderful, all of them, because it’s the honest portrayal of who they are at the moment. Some love the baby already and some are still getting used to the idea. We focus on the baby and let the older child come and go as needed. And I’m a fan of a clean bribe for the older kiddos.

Can we bribe our older kids?

Totally! Let them have bribes throughout the session not just at the end. Littles have no idea of time so it makes them mad to endlessly wait. Only offer clean bribes though, like crackers or fruit chews. Suckers, drinks, and, chocolates will stain clothes or make sticky hair and fingers.

What to Wear!

My rule of thumb is to come as you are. Don’t be a dress girl if you’re not. There are so many ways to look good for a session and still be you. We go over this more once you’ve booked in. A quick tip is black is usually not the best color for in-home sessions, as it loves lint. Sage greens, soft pinks and blues, creams, and light browns are all good colors for newborn sessions.

What is the Pricing info?

My newborn sessions are all-inclusive. What that means to you is that when you receive your photos, they are all yours, you don’t have to choose your favorites. Your gallery will include at least 50 photos. Your photos are all personally edited by me. The session can run up to 90-minutes long, that’s because some babies need more feeds and diaper time than others, and I never want us to feel pressured for time, so, it’s just all scheduled in. No worries though, not all sessions need that long, it’s very baby-led. Sessions are $700+tax. A deposit of $200 is charged up front, and the balance is due 5-7 days before session.
